Texts, variables and the look of panels

Write your own texts for the panels and messages of the bot, insert variables like {server} and change the colour, button and images of a panel.

2 min read

Most texts the bot posts can be your own: the verify panel, the report and unban request panels, ticket panels and more. In every one of these fields you can use variables. A variable is a word in curly braces, for example {server}. When the bot posts the text, it puts the real value in its place.

Insert a variable

  1. Click into the text field where the variable should go.
  2. Click Variables under the field. The list shows only the variables that work in this field, each with a short description.
  3. Pick one. It is inserted where your cursor is.

Under the field a preview shows your text with example values, for example the name of your server. If you type a word in braces that is not a variable of this field, it is underlined and a hint says so. The bot leaves such words as they are.

Variables

VariableWhat the bot puts in
{server}Name of the server
{server_id}ID of the server
{member_count}Number of members
{channel}The channel the message is in
{date}Today's date, shown in the reader's time zone
{time}The current time, shown in the reader's time zone
{user}The member, as a mention
{user_mention}Mention of the member
{user_name}Name of the member, without a ping
{user_id}Discord ID of the member

Some texts have more: {level} in level up messages, and {title}, {prize}, {count}, {ends_at}, {winner} and {winners} in giveaways.

Panels stay in their channel and are edited when you post them again. That is why panels only offer {server}, {server_id} and {channel}: a member count or a date would be out of date the next day.

Pick a channel or a role, or let the bot create it

Wherever the bot needs a role or a channel, you can pick one you already have from a searchable list. For the verified role and the verify channel you can also let the bot create them. The dashboard checks that the role or channel belongs to your server and fits the setting. If the bot cannot use it, for example because the role is above the bot's own role, the page tells you what to change in Discord.

Look of panels

On the report, unban request and ticket pages and in the verify panel you can change the look of a panel: the colour of the bar on the left, the text, emoji and colour of the button, a small line on top and at the bottom, a small image next to the text and a large image under it. Heading and text stay free for every server. The look needs Pro. Without it the fields are locked and the bot uses the standard look. Values you saved before stay, so they come back when your server has Pro again.

After saving, post the panel again so Discord shows the change.
