Languages
60 languages for the bot, the dashboard, the portal and direct messages. How the server language and the personal language work together.

Modhelm speaks 60 languages. Your community picks one language for everything the bot posts in the server, and each person sees the dashboard and the portal in their own language.
Two settings, not one
| What | Language used | Where to change |
|---|---|---|
| Report cards, unban request cards, panels, log entries, direct messages | Server language | Settings > General, or /language |
| Short private replies in Discord (only the person who clicked sees them) | The person's Discord language, if supported, otherwise the server language | Discord settings of the member |
| Dashboard, portal, documentation, emails | The visitor's language | The language switcher on the page |
| Slash command names and descriptions | Discord's own language setting | Discord |
So a German server with an English speaking moderator works fine: cards are German, but the moderator's dashboard is English.
Set the server language
- Open Settings > General and pick the language.
- Or type
/languagein Discord and choose from the list. The list has autocomplete, so you can type the language name.
Existing cards keep their language. New cards, panels and messages use the new one. Post the panels again if you want them in the new language right away.
/language locale:dePersonal language on the web
The dashboard and the portal pick the language on the first visit from the browser setting. The switcher at the bottom of every page changes it, and the choice is remembered in a cookie for a year. Addresses never contain a language code, so modhelm.com/dashboard is the same link for everyone and a link you share opens in the reader's language.
Old links with a language prefix still work and forward to the address without it.
Players
Players see the portal in their own language. The report form, the appeal page and the status page translate completely, including the names of the standard report categories. Categories you added yourself are shown as you typed them.
Direct messages from the bot to players use the server language, because the bot does not know the player's language.
Slash commands
Command names stay the same in every language (/report, /appeal, /ban), which makes support easier. Descriptions and option names are translated into every language Discord supports, so members see them in their Discord language.
Roblox ban reasons
The public reason for a ban is written by the moderator and sent to Roblox as typed. Roblox does not translate it. Write it in the language most of your players understand, or keep presets in several languages. See Decisions.
The 60 languages
Afrikaans, Albanian, Arabic, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, French, Galician, Georgian, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kazakh, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Maltese, Marathi, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek and Vietnamese.
English is the source language. If a text is missing in your language, you see the English version until it is translated.
Help with translations
If you find a wrong or awkward translation, tell us in the support server with the exact text and where you saw it. Native speakers from the community review the languages, and corrections ship with the next release.
