White label bot

Run Modhelm as your own Discord bot with your name and avatar. Step by step from the Developer Portal to the dashboard.

Before you start

You need the White Label plan or the moderation service. The Discord application belongs to you. Modhelm runs it for you as a service provider under the data processing agreement.

1. Create the application

  1. Open the Discord Developer Portal and click New Application. Choose the name your members should see.
  2. Under General Information, set the app icon and enter the links to your own privacy policy and terms of service. Discord requires them.
  3. Copy the Application ID.

2. Set up the bot

  1. Open Bot, set the avatar and banner if you like.
  2. Click Reset Token and copy the token. Treat it like a password.
  3. Switch on Server Members Intent under Privileged Gateway Intents. Modhelm needs it for automatic verification.

3. OAuth for logins on your domain

Open OAuth2, copy the Client Secret and, if you use your own domain, add this redirect URI with your domain:

Redirect URI
https://appeals.yourgame.com/api/oauth/discord/callback

Without your own domain, logins on the portal keep using Modhelm's app.

4. Connect it in Modhelm

In the dashboard open White label, enter the application ID, the bot token and the client secret and click Save. Modhelm checks the token with Discord, stores everything encrypted and starts your bot within a minute.

Then invite your bot with the invite link shown in the dashboard. Once your bot is active, the Modhelm bot ignores your server, so you can remove it.

Good to know

  • Your bot uses the same settings, games and data as before.
  • Verification stays valid, because Discord user IDs are the same in every app.
  • Never share the bot token in Discord or anywhere else. If it leaks, reset it in the Developer Portal and save the new one in Modhelm.
  • If you cancel White Label, your bot stops and the Modhelm bot can take over again.
