Permissions and roles
Which Discord permissions the bot needs, who can use which command, and how dashboard access works.
Bot permissions

Modhelm also needs the Server Members intent to recognise verified members when they join. For the Modhelm bot it is already switched on. For a white label bot you switch it on yourself.
Role order
Discord lets a bot manage only roles that are below its own highest role, and only members whose highest role is below it. Drag the Modhelm role above your verified role in Server Settings → Roles. Nicknames of the server owner can never be changed by a bot.
Dashboard access
- Admin: members with Administrator or Manage Server, the server owner, and members with a role you set as admin role. Admins can change settings, games, white label and billing.
- Moderator: members with a role you set as moderator role. Moderators can work on reports, players, notes and unban requests.
Access is checked live with Discord on every request. Remove someone's role and their access ends right away. Set the roles in Settings → Team & API.
